World Kidney Day is March 13th: Renal community gears up for activities

This year’s World Kidney Day – on Thursday, March 13th, right in the middle of Kidney Month – provides an opportunity for the renal community to celebrate successes in kidney care in BC, and advocate for necessary changes.

The BC Renal Agency is partnering with the Kidney Foundation on a range of activities throughout the month, from media releases to a kidney quiz to promotional articles in partner newsletters. We are also challenging renal programs to celebrate World Kidney Day through such events as a morning or lunchtime "walk around the hospital/community dialysis unit" with as many staff/patients/volunteers as possible.

World Kidney Day t-shirts and posters are available through the Renal Agency, and we can provide assistance with local media releases for your event (contact Bev Holmes at bev.holmes@telus.net).

World Kidney Day is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations. It was launched for the first time in 2006 and it is held the second Thursday of every March. On 8 March 2007, World Kidney Day was celebrated in 66 countries. Visit www.worldkidneyday.org for more information.
