Strategic Plan Update: Increasing our Organizational Effectiveness

In the February issue of Renal News we introduced our new strategic plan, which confirms our vision of "an innovative, integrated health system resulting in outstanding care for patients living with kidney disease" and our mission to "integrate knowledge and practice for better kidney health."

Our four strategic priorities are:

  • Ensuring provision of effective and cost-efficient kidney care
  • Supporting evidence-based decision-making
  • Strengthening the kidney care continuum
  • Supporting and enhancing the vibrant renal network

A goal under priority four relates to ensuring all renal network committees and working groups are aligned with the Renal Agency’s strategic objectives and are well-positioned for success. Key recommendations for committees and working groups include:

  1. Update terms of reference and develop annual or biannual business plans outlining activities, specific deliverables and resource requirements.
  2. Produce regular activity reports (e.g. annual updates of accomplishments/ challenges, etc.)
  3. Conduct periodic reviews to identify potential overlaps or possible synergies with the activities of other groups.

BCPRA has also asked that all nursing committees and working groups have a renal nurse manager co-chair their meetings to facilitate improved communication and regional implementation where applicable.

If you sit on a committee or working group and have questions or concerns about this initiative or the recommendations, please contact Donna Murphy-Burke: dmurphy-burke@bcpra.ca or 604-875-7348.
